This butter keeper is 7" long. You put a little bit of ice water in the bottom. Pack the top with butter. Top is the serving dish at the table. When finished, put the butter upside down into the dish. The cold water doesn't hurt the butter and keeps it fresh on your table. No need to refrigerate. Change the water every 3 days. Holds 1/2 lbs.
