Welcome To Green Mountain Ceramics

 Welcome To Green Mountain

Welcome to our new home page.  Green Mountain Ceramics is owned by Lionel and Marilyn Blow in Richmond, VT.   We have been in business for 30 years.   We are open Monday thru Saturday, 8 to 4 pm.

IMPORTANT: We are sorry to announce that, due to high shipping costs to Canada, we will no longer have Canada as a shipping destination.  Please call us at 802 434-3973 with any questions.

We have all types of finished ware and bisque.  We are known for the quality of our products, our attention to detail, and our unique pieces. We carry garden statutary, dishware, gnomes, frogs, canister sets, lamps, birdbaths, Christmas and Halloween pieces, dragons, cherubs, gargoyles, eagles, scenes, villages, animals, candles, and many more items.  Our dishware is lead free, oven, dishwasher and microwave safe.  Our garden pieces are sealed for the outdoors.  We have the paints, brushes, and electric supplies to go with our bisque for you to paint yourself.

We also have a gift shop in our home at 1063 Jericho Road.  We have hand painted items and shelves of bisque, plus supplies.  Stop in and see what we have to offer!

Our website consists of two areas - finished and bisque.  NOTE:  any finished piece can be purchased in bisque.  This website is unique in that you can choose the pattern and the glaze you want to put on any piece.  This gives you an opportunity to build up sets of dishes over time.  These decals are made specifically for ceramics and are melted into the glaze during the third firing and will never come off.

When you place your order, the website automatically gives you the shipping cost.  However, on large orders, it doesn't know how many boxes or how much packing material may be needed, so the shipping charge may change.

All the ceramics on our website were available at the time we took the pictures.  If they are not available at the time you order, it will take us approximately 2-4 weeks to produce them.  This website does not contain everything we have to offer.  We have approximately 6000 ceramic molds with new ones coming in every month.  Therefore, if you do not see what you want on this site, please contact us and chances are, we will either have it or can get it.  Our search feature can also help you.

Any of our crafts would make a wonderful addition to your home or a one-of-a-kind gift for someone.  If you have any questions or comments, please visit our feedback page or call us at (802) 434-3973.  We welcome the opportunity to serve you.

What We Do

Green Mountain Ceramics has been in business for 30 years and our shop is located in our home in Richmond, Vermont.  Our gift shop contains finished products for sale, and our shelves are filled with bisque.  We also offer paints, glazes and supplies.  We have approximately 6,000 molds from which to choose with new ones arriving constantly.

Our product is fired in two electronic kilns, and our dishware is lead free, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.  Our hand painted outdoor garden statuary is sealed against the weather.

You may be interested in how our dishware is made.  The liquid clay, called "slip" is mixed in a "pouring machine".  This mixture is then poured into a mold.  The slip dries to a particular thickness and the excess is poured off.  The piece is taken out of the mold - it is now called "greenware".  It is cleaned by makingt the seams smooth, and then fired at 2000 degrees.  It turns white and is now called "bisque" and is ready to paint or glaze.  Three coats of glaze are applied to the dishes.  They are fired again at 1800 degrees.  A decal, made especially for ceramics, is then applied to the dish.  It is fired a third time at 1600 degrees so that the decal is melted into the glaze and becomes a permanent part of the dishware.

As you will see from this website, we can put any pattern decal on any piece and special orders are always welcome.

We look forward to doing business with you.
